Razor: Gillette Tech
Soap: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Tombstone
Aftershave: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Tombstone Splash
I noticed that in my shave den I have collected an abundance of western style shave products. Between a few soaps/splashes I have purchased and a few assorted samples, I have enough gear to transport myself down south at a moments notice. I figured it would be fun to do a shave theme week with this gear and so I have dubbed this #westernweek. First up is Tombstone from Phoenix Artisan Accouterments. PAA says the main notes on this one are Gunpowder, Leather, Tobacco, Geranium, Bergamot, and Rose. It smells fantastic. Right off the top you get the Gunpowder/Leather/Tobacco but it is softened up for the floural/fruit notes. It strikes a really nice balance. I finished up with the matching splash which has a bit of menthol and alum in the ingredient list. The menthol wasn’t overly noticeable, just a slight coolness to go with the slight burn. My only knock on the aftershave is that the scent wasn’t as complex as the soap. To my nose, the floural/fruit notes didn’t come through quite as much as the soap. It pairs well, but it doesnt carry quite like the lathered soap. Still a fantastic shave, smooth as silk with the trusty Gillette Tech.
Stay tuned this week as I SOTD thru old west. Happy shaves – J
