Well, I guess today I joined the #zingaritribe. I recently got this set (and several other goodies) from Heather with Zingari Man. There has been a bit of a buzz about her products of late and she is fantastic to chat shave with on her social platforms. I figured what the heck and made a swap of some product with her. Product arrived quickly, even though it was coming from the USA. Packaging was all very nicely done. I was looking forward to giving this shave a go.
The soap is a fairly firm vegan base. It loads fairly easily into your brush. Be careful not to overload, I was a bit heavy on the load and ended up needing a fair bit of water to get the lather down. You don’t need a huge load with this soap. The resulting lather was really nice, it had a nice sheen to it. Very stable with nice density. Pretty exceptional for a vegan base. The scent notes on this are Oakmoss, Orange Blossom and Fern. It has the brightness and floral notes from the orange blossom with a familiar fourgere vibe of the Oakmoss/Fern. Heather has stated before that folks “bust her balls” about scent strength, so I have to put my $0.02 in. Off the puck, this is on the milder side of medium. Once lathered, it does jump up a bit, but I still wish it was amped up a bit more. Performance was on point. Slickness was great (lathered and residual). With the overload of the bush, I had an abundance of lather and holding the razor was even a bit tricky through the slickness. Post shave was fantastic. I could have skipped the post shave…. but I didn’t.
I finished off with the matching balm. Scent strength was a bit of a disappointment here too. I really liked this scent but I found the balm strength was lighter than the soap and wouldn’t carry much past the shave. If you like a lighter scent or have skin sensitivities this would be a great set for you. The performance of this balm though, man I loved it. It wasn’t heavy at all, soaked right in and left my dry prairie winter skin feeling nice and hydrated. A big win on the performance of this too, probably one of the top 3 balms in the den.
So an all around great shave to finish off the weekend. I have a few more Zingari samples to run through so we will see how the others work out. I can say this, the performance on this product line, you won’t be disappointed.
