Day six of #7DaysofBarbershop. Today’s offering is Barbershop from First Canadian Shave. This particular barbershop scent leans to the lighter and brighter side. It is a nice change from some of the other more bold barbershop scents of the week. Scent notes are lemon, bergamot, lavender, patchouli, rosemary, sandalwood, and tobacco. Upon opening the tub you are greeted with a nice bright lemon-forward citrus. Underneath you get a subtle earthiness with a grounding in Tobacco. It is a wonderful and restrained barbershop.
Performance of this soap is on point, elite level good. How this base isn’t getting more hype is a bit of a mystery (if I was to guess I’d say limited scents and perhaps some packaging improvements). This stuff is super slick, so much so I was kind of regretting my razor choice during the shave. The handle on the Ever-Ready doesn’t have much knurling or grip and once it got a touch of soap on it, it was damn hard to hold on to. The dialed in lather has that rich buttery texture, is lower on volume but high on density and sheen. Cushion is excellent, slickness is elite (lathered and residual). Post shave is also excellent. If you don’t have a FCSS product in your den, add it today. Randy’s base has come a long way, I wasn’t a fan of his earlier base but this new one is in my top 5 for sure.
Post shave is also really good. Scent is a perfect match to the soap. I wish it was a touch stronger as it doesn’t carry for very long, but no complains on the performance. A fantastic finish to a fantastic shave.
