Up today is a great scent that just doesn’t get a lot of use in my den, Zingari Man No. 1.  This offering was one of the first big scent collaborations for Zingari with Byron Parfums doing the scent.  When it was initially released I was interested in picking it up but just missed out.  It eventually came back and I decided to pull the trigger.  That was some time ago and while I’ve had it in the den since April 2021, I haven’t used it a bunch and hadn’t featured it as of yet.

No 1. is a skillfully blended scent offering notes of Turkish Rose, Vanilla, Oud, Bulgarian Rose, Sandalwood, Patchouli and Amber.  Scent strength on this is mid-strong, stronger than most Zingari offerings I’ve tried.  Rose is the prominent note over an approachable oud with a bit of earthy sweetness.  It has a bit of zip to it.  It is a really pleasant scent that I would describe as unisex.  I really like it, but I never find myself reaching for it.  The rose in here is natural and not overpowering but I don’t think I’d want to wear this all day.  My thoughts on the scent are that this will be a big win for some, but just not something I’ll reach for often enough to warrant keeping.

The soap itself is in Zingari’s Sego base (tallow) and it is a really nice base.  Not the easiest to use of the newer elite bases but if you take the time to work with it you are rewarded with a performance that is elite level good.    The splash is Heather’s recovery splash which is a fantastic balance of applying like a typical aftershave, carrying scent well, but giving the skin benefits of a balm.  My skin felt very hydrated post-shave.  One thing you can say about Zingari, is they certainly make skin-friendly products.

Brush for today is another new add to the den, a 26mm SHD Silvertip (Oumo) set in a Chisel & Hound handle.  The knot is very soft and comfortable but it does like to hog the lather.  I’m still working with it to get consistent lather builds with it.  I typically struggle a bit with badger knots but this one is trickier than most.  I thought about setting a synthetic knot but this one just looked so good in the handle.  I’m sure I’ll get it figured out.

Great shave today, and while the scent likely isn’t a keeper for me, the shave certainly was.

All for now – J
