Another hot one here on the prairies.  It seemed rather fitting to use this recent release from MacDuffs Soap Company, Summer Cabin.  This is the second pickup I have from the MacDuff cabin series.  Spring Cabin was an absolute banger so Summer Cabin was a no-brainer.  I’m committed now so I’m for sure going to get Fall and Winter Cabin when they hit v4.

Summer Cabin has a complex list of scent notes but it is blended very well into what my nose picks up as fairly dominated by citrus and vetiver.  The full note breakdown is Persian Lime, Tahitian Lime, Calabrian Bergamot, Lemongrass Sicilian Lemon, Litsea, Nutmeg, Ginger, Turmeric, Coriander, Rose Geranium, Himalayan Cedarwood, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Benzoin, Jasmine.  Right up from you are hit with a bright blast of citrus.  I get a very natural lemon, lime and bergamot.  This isn’t an overly sweet citrus, it is bright and perhaps just a touch bitter.  Once you lather it up you get some subtle spicey notes and cedarwood poking through but it is a fresh grassy vetiver that punches through most.  If you don’t like citrus or vetiver, this won’t be for you.  For me, it is a bit out of my wheelhouse but for a citrus scent it has surprising strength and I do like a bright grassy vetiver.  It will probably get less use than most of my MacDuff sets but it will still be in the warm weather rotation for sure.

I had a little extra time today so I opted for a straight razor shave.  I still can’t get over how nice these custom Lather Me Whiskers scales turned out.  They are absolutely stunning.  If only my technique was half as pretty.  A two-pass shave today left me good enough to call it a day.  The little bit of self-induced skin irritation was easily fixed by the fantastic matching aftershave balm.

Since this was a vetiver forward scent I decided to give this cheapie vetiver fragrance from Malizia Uomo a try.  It is a bit old school but it is a nice bright vetiver that is very approachable and definitely punches above its price point.  This is a great fragrance to try if you want to give a vetiver a try.

Pretty decent shave today.  No complaints.  All for now – J
