Up today is another fantastic offering from The Club….. Club Baccara. This soap/splash is based off of Baccarat Rouge 540 from the house of Maison Francis Kurkdjian. I’ve never been exposed to the scent previously (this was a blind buy based off the fantastic labeling….. other artisans please take note), but if this is an accurate representation, I could see adding it to my scent arsenal.
Scent notes on this are Indonesian Jasmine, Saffron, Orange di Capri, African Marigold, Bucchu, Cyclamen, Ambroxan, Evernyl, Moroccan Cedarwood, Ambergris, and Fir Balsam. It is described as a Unisex Oriental Floral scent. I would agree with that assessment. It is a very nicely rounded cologne scent. Up front you get the slightly sweet and floral presence which dries down to the amber, resin and cedar/fir. Scent strength on this is strong off the puck and remains strong once lathered. It is powerful stuff. I’ve now used the soap several times and scent strength on the soap alone will carry for 2-3 hours. Add the splash into the mix and this scent will carry all day. Be careful using this set on days you enter a scent sensitive area like many workplaces. Also be prepared for the compliments that will come your way 🙂
The soap lathered up and performed like a dream with this Paul Daniel Synthetic brush. This thing is super comfortable in the hand and whipped up a great lather. Today for a change I opted for a face lather and this worked like a dream with a nice balance of backbone and softness. The knot was set at the perfect loft for a great splay. Really impressed for his first shave brush, great work. An all around great brush for an all around great shave.
