Test driving a few new products today. I received the Ming Shi 2000S (Merkur Futur clone) from Aliexpress. It worked out to around $10 after shipping and tax so I figure with all the buzz I should give it a try. A couple things stood out to me on this razor. 1. she is noisy. something about the design of this razor gives it a lot of echo as is cuts. This isn’t a bad thing, it is just a bit surprising, but I did appreciate the feedback. 2. she is slippery. This one is a definitely negative as it affected my control throughout the shave. I’ll see if this becomes less of an issue as I use it more. I did really like the weight of the razor but the handle was a little thick causing it to sit in my razor stand a bit awkwardly. Performance wise, other than the grip issue, it performed like a champ. I got a great shave. Today I also tried out a new lather bowl. This is a beauty, the most comfortable to hold yet. You put your thumb in the handle and hold it in the palm of your hand and you great great lather building performance. Barrister and Mann created another complex scent with this one. Coffee is the strong note but the leather and sandalwood are definitely there. Performance was on point as always. A great shave to start the day.
