I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween yesterday. This was my themed shave but I never had a chance to post it. I wanted something to really grab that Halloween vibe and this offering form Barrister and Mann has that in spades.
This particular Fougere Gothique set from Barrister and Mann was from their initial release. It has since been released again. I believe both releases were in the reserve base which performs just fine. I’m told the latest release is a bit toned back on the scent so I’m pretty happy to have the OG. B&M scents rarely speak to me but has that unique honour. Scent notes on this are lavender, oakmoss, tonka, balsam fir, bergamot, vetiver, geranium, cedar, earth, sandalwood, musk, leather, and tuberose. It is a really smokey vetiver/fougere vibe, very dark and very fragrant. Not be for everyone. Many wet shavers have documented this being a *sleep on the couch* scent according to their wives. For me, after my shave the wife walked in and commented, “You smell nice”. I’m such a lucky man.
A quick three effortless passes with the John Clarke & Son Sheffield 3/4″. This razor is so dependable, it has a super smooth edge and I never have issues with it. The scales could use a restore but that is a challenge for another time. They are also propped up here on one of our Thirsty Badger straight razor stands.
