I’m in some IT training today so I wanted to pull a set that wasn’t over the top but still had a level of sophistication to it. This Wholly Kaw set definitely fit the bill. Chypre Rose Concertro is a blend of lime, bergamot, rose, lavender, rosemary, geranium, lilac, labdanum, patchouli, oakmoss and cedarwood. It opens with the rose and citrus and the very subtle floral notes of lavender, geranium and lilac. Those notes may give you the impression of a really floral scent but the citrus and rosemary give it a bit of zip and spice. It then dries down to that woody and earthy vibe. I would say it is a very masculine, slightly spicy floural. This scent could be an all season wear but would definitely be in its element in the spring and early summer.
This particular soap base is a beef tallow formula, which I believe has been replaced by a newer tallow formulation. The soap still performs very well. Slickness is very good (both lathered and residual) and the post shave is above average. Scent strength is on the stronger side of medium. No issues with the slightly aggressive Piccolo razor with the soap.
I finished up the shave with the matching splash. Scent was a perfect match, even though it contains menthol. The amount was bang on as I got the subtle cooling without the scent interference. I really enjoyed the shave, and awesome way to start the week.
