#samplesaturday Today I pulled out a sample of the Chiseled Face/Zoologist Civet. I have to admin, this one didnt jump out at me as the one to use today for its scent, it was out of necessity. I had another sample of CF/Zoologist (Panda) that had such a strong scent it actually crossed over to another sample I had of a different product. I figured I should use this guy up or risk the same.
Scent strength on this was strong, but not as strong as Panda for sure. It is a described as:
Civet is a moody and complex brew entwined in mystery. It opens with a spicy floral accord, threaded through with dark coffee tones. Slowly it prowls forward, unraveling base notes of leather, moss and vanilla that combines with distinctive civet musk to create a bewildering, sophisticated scent with the promise of a sultry nighttime rendezvous.
I have trouble describing this one so the website description was as good as any. I would just say, it was nice. The CF base was good as always. An easy lather, nice cushion and plenty slick. The Karve is proving to be a great razor already. I’d say the D plate is as aggressive as I’d like to go, I could feel it a bit, but I got a super close shave and no irritation. I did a quick alum block swipe and found no sting at all. My only pause on this razor is the solid brass, it is going to require a little up keep and it will discolour with some patina. I had a bit of moisture on it from my previous shave and it has a discoloured spot already. I don’t mind some patina but I will need to make sure I’m drying it will to keep that patina consistent. Fingers crossed they release a stainless version in the future
Game day today, tough one with Calgary in town. Hoping for a good one. Go Riders, and have a great weekend!
