Razor: Gillette Goodwill
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Brush: Ever-Ready 2 band badger
Soap: West Coast Shaving Cologne soap
Other: Thirsty Badger lather bowl
I picked up this small but mighty soap in a recent mystery box acquisition. I was excited to see this in the mix as I had always been interested in these West Cost Shaving product offerings. When released, this was one in a set of scents that came in both a soap base and a cream base. The soap base was made by Oleo Soapworks and the cream by Catie’s Bubbles. This particular one is the Oleo Soapworks Duck fat soap base.
The scent on Cologne is a mossy/earthy cologne scent boasting notes of rosemary, petitgrain, lavender, rose, geranium, oakmoss, vetiver, & musk. I was a big fan of this. It is almost like traditional fougere with a bit darker earthiness to it. The soap base is also really good. It lathered very easily, slickness both lathered and residual were excellent and the post shave was nice as well. Scent strength is on the stronger side of medium. Based on this, I really need to add some more Oleo to the den.
I’m a few shaves in with the Goodwill and really enjoy this vintage razor. It isn’t the smoothest razor I own by any stretch but very efficient and a fun razor to use. Paired up with my self restored vintage Ever-Ready I had a fantastic shave today.
