Today was an upgrade day. The Rockwell 6c has been a regular in my daily shave routine since I acquired it. Based on the price point and make up of the 6c, it is a fantastic starter razor. But secretly, I always longed for the upgraded stainless steel version…. the 6s. Yesterday I was able to make that upgrade thanks to a friend that was looking at moving his. I’m now a happy camper and am moving my 6c to another home for the next shaver to enjoy.
The 6c to 6s is a very simple transition. The geometry and shape are identical, the base plates offer the same levels of aggression, etc. This has a lighter matte finish with Rockwell stamped on the plates. Weighting is a bit heavier than the 6c. I’d say the knurling is a tad more subtle in the 6s as well (I preferred the 6c knurling to be honest). Shave wise, I got a fairly similar shave with the 6s performing a touch better due to the added weight. Both are very smooth shavers. Very happy with this pickup.
Today I opted for a cold water shave and it was fantastic. I took a little extra time and was able to perfectly dial in the A&E soap with this Oz Brush (what a looker eah?). The software today was Grecian Horse from A&E. Sounding like a broken record, I’m a big fan of the quality of the soap/splash. The big surprise for me was the scent on this. I’ve never smelled Parfums de Marly Pegasus, the scent this one is inspired from, but I could definitely see adding it. Scent notes are Almond, Vanilla, Sandalwood, Lavender, Jasmine, Heliotrope, Amber, Cumin, Bergamot. I get the sweetness for sure but the blend almost comes off slightly chocolatey to me. I get a subtle floral note with a nice little zip of spice drying down to a scent grounded in sandalwood and amber. Not what I was expecting based on the notes, but a big win nonetheless.
