A quick 2 pass shave this morning before I hit the Monday rush. I grabbed this puck or Van der Lovett Royal Orange today. I got these pucks of Van der Lovett for a steal from our local Winners store (all 4 scents for $12). I’m positive they are made by the same folks as Fine Accoutrements soap, to me the base is identical, a hard, triple-milled, tallow based soap.
The soap loads very easily into a nice dense lather. Scent strength on this particular one is quite mild, a very subtle sweet orange scent. It reminds me a bit of Stirling’s orange chill. Slickness is good. Residual slickness, average. Post shave, not great, slightly drying. I wouldn’t skip a post shave product on this one. I did get a smooth 2 pass shave with the efficient Karve D plate.
This soap won’t blow you away with performance but it will give you a solid lather was average performance at an outstanding price point.
