A midweek SOTD, kind of rare with my busy summer schedule but I was up with the chickens today so here we go. I recently won a raffle of assorted soaps and splashed and was itching to try this one since I opened the box. Maggards Tobacco & Leather. The scent on this is fantastic. It is a sweet leather scent with a hit of pipe tobacco, a really nice blend. It is packaged in a high quality PLA tub which is unexpected for a house brand, but appreciated. It is a fairly soft soap. Loading was an easy task but I had a bit of trouble getting the lather I like and as such didn’t get the cushion and slickness I expect from a soap. I’m not willing to give up on it yet as the scent is so nice, I’ll give it another go with another brush and see if I can dial it in.
I am still digging this PAA double open comb. It is mild and paired well with the feather for a smooth shave. I still reach for my Yaqi double open comb more often as I find it a bit less mild but both are fantastic little razors for a budget price. Also shown is a prototype lather bowl we are working on, a righty handle with speckled clay. It was surprisingly comfortable in the left hand as well and worked up a decent lather. We will be adding a couple of these to the store in the near future for all the left handed shavers out there.
