Seems like I’m in a cherry mood this weekend. Today I reached for Tribute by Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements. This offering was made in collaboration with SoSharpDavid as Cherry and Sandalwood are two of his favourite scents. I have to say, the man has good taste (well, other than his dislike of lather bowls, but no man is perfect). I already mentioned my love for cherry scents yesterday and sandalwood is a staple in my shave den. You might think this is a simple straightforward scent, and you wouldn’t be wrong, but the combo just seems to work. Right upfront you get that natural sharp cherry kick but it rests over this warm creamy sandalwood base. It is a pretty perfect harmony with neither of the two scents being the star. Scent strength on this one is on the stronger side of medium, and with the splash, it does carry for a couple of hours.
This release is in the CK6 base which I’ve spoken of before. Today I decided to really push the water into the soap base and got a fantastic lather. It took a TONNE of water and the result was super glossy and slick. I could barely tell I was shaving today with the razor and had to stop and check a couple of times to ensure the blade was doing its work. Indeed the trusty Rockwell cutting fine, just the combo of the Razor, the Gillette yellows and this soap made for an ultra-smooth shave.
