After a pretty epic mail call yesterday, I set this up for my SOTD. It was frustrating, but the end result was a BBS shave. I received the pre shave and after shave balm from Ken at Like Grandpa Shave Products to try out. It was my first pre shave experience. It did a great job of prepping for a comfortable shave. I can tell it softened the stubble for sure but I wouldn’t say it improved the glide at all (Next time I will use with a soap I’m very familiar with to confirm that thought) but I can definitely see the advantage using it. Not very often do I get an irritation free BBS shave.
The Prohibition Style soap smelled fantastic. Very unique in my den. I did have a bit of trouble lathering, but that was due to the thorn in my side for the shave, the Art of Shaving brush. I was having a heck of a time controlling it. I found the handle small and very slippery. I actually dropped it a few times. The backbone was definitely lacking as well. It was my first badger experience so I wasn’t sure what to expect, so I’m not going to write it off just yet, but as I said, it was a thorn in my side for this shave. I look forward to trying this soap again with my boar brush.
I finished off with the Like Grandpa Sandalwood after shave balm. I typically don’t love Sandalwood but I really liked the subtle scent of this. It is also a very unique setup, almost like a salve or heavy cream. I really enjoyed it and I would highly recommend checking it out. It is nothing like any of the other after shave products in my den.
Have a great day all, and happy shaving!
