Dear Customers,
Effective August 29, 2025, the United States suspended its duty-free de minimis threshold of US$800 for all countries, including Canada. As a result, all postal shipments to the U.S. now require prepaid duties before crossing the border—regardless of their value or country of origin.
This change, combined with the lack of clarity around how to send CUSMA-compliant items U.S. via Canada Post without duties (as should be the case), has created significant risk for our small business. We face the possibility of pre-paying duties that technically should not apply, with no way to reclaim them, or worse, risk our products not reaching customers at all. Canada Post is also operating under a rotating strike, which adds further uncertainty. Given our remote location, the logistics and costs of alternative shipping methods are not feasible at this time.
In light of these challenges and the ongoing uncertainty surrounding U.S. cross-border shipments, we have made the difficult decision to pause all shipments to the United States. This is not a decision we take lightly, and we know it will be disappointing. Fortunately, this is a hobby business we run out of passion for the shaving community, but many other Canadian small businesses are not as fortunate.
We had planned a release of bowls and soakers this fall, and while they are nearly complete, we will hold off until there is more clarity and simplification in the U.S. shipping process. We may choose to do a release exclusive to Canadian customers, or we may wait until the situation improves.
We sincerely thank our customers for their patience and understanding in a situation that is beyond our control. We hope to resume shipping to the U.S. soon—and that you will not be burdened by additional taxes (tariffs) when purchasing our products in the future.
Thank you for your understanding.
Best regards, Jared
